I, along with the entire Chamber Board, would like to thank you for your support and commitment to the Clay County Chamber of Commerce.
It is a fact that we are still enduring one of the most challenging economies in the history of our nation. These challenges have made us rethink our business modes and become more innovative and efficient in how we operate our organizations. In order to adapt to the challenges of this new economy, the Clay County Chamber Board is in the process of updating our long-range strategic plan as we review member benefits. educational/training programs, networking opportunities and product and service discount programs.
We've said it before, but it is worth repeating: now more than ever, engagement with the Clay County Chamber has a direct positive impact on the bottom line of your business. When we do emerge from this recession, it is critical to ensure that your business is in the best position to respond to a favorable economy.
To further ensure the stability of our local companies, the Clay County Chamber is engaged in a business retention program with the County, municipalities of Green Cove Springs, Town of Orange Park, Keystone Height, Penney Farm, the Clay County Development Authority and WorkSource, our regional workforce organization. While our community remains an attractive option in recruiting new businesses, it is just as critical to retain those that are providing jobs and contributing to our tax base. The Clay County Chamber continues to develop sound policies and work with our elected officials to assure private enterprises will have the best opportunity to succeed in the local business environment.
A qualified workforce is one of the most essential components of a strong business community. Clay County has the distinction of having an A-rated public school system. Through the Clay County Chamber Foundation, we raise funds for Clay County scholarships for our high school graduates. In addition, we have developed programs and forums which have contributed to that academic excellence by distributing teachers’ supplies and assisted with discussions between the business community and the school system to continue to enhance our programs to create the future workforce.
The Clay County Chamber truly believes that every business has a role in making our community great. We need to insure that business has an opportunity to thrive in every part….from the area’s culture and arts to economic development and everything in between. Next suggestion: Over the next year, we will constantly be demonstrating the positive effect of Connecting Businesses by working to engage, enrich and enhance Member involvement with the many Chamber programs and with this success will be able to Expand Opportunities.
